         ATTORNEY GENERAL TO ANNOUNCE FY 97 ALIEN REMOVAL
                  NUMBERS AT WEEKLY AVAILABILITY


     WASHINGTON, DC --  Attorney General Janet Reno will announce
fiscal 1997 figures for the removal of criminal and other illegal
aliens from the United States, at the Justice Department's weekly
news media availability Thursday, October 30, at 9:30 a.m. in
room 5111.
     
     The availability is open to federally credentialed reporters
only.  T.V. coverage will consist of a network pool arrangement. 
A live feed is available through a mult box in the Andretta Room,
located on the first floor of the Main Justice Building.

     
NOTE:  The network pool camera crew will not be allowed to enter
the building before 8:00 a.m.
