ATTORNEYS GENERAL RENO & MADRAZO TO SIGN LETTER FOR ENHANCED COOPERATION
*** Pooled Photo Op Only ***
WASHINGTON, D.C. United States Attorney General Janet Reno and Mexican Attorney General Jorge Madrazo will sign a letter to their two Presidents on Thursday in Brownsville, Texas, that will set up a procedure to enhance consultation and cooperation between the two nations' law enforcement agencies.
On June 8, 1998, Presidents Clinton and Zedillo, at the United Nations General Assembly Special Session for Drugs, endorsed the efforts of their respective Attorneys General to strengthen the bilateral process for law enforcement consultation and collaboration.
Through the process reflected in the letter, the two Attorneys General will strengthen mechanisms for communicating with each other and further enhancing bilateral cooperation, consistent with legal constraints and security concerns.
