OKLAHOMA MAN SENTENCED TO 12 MONTHS FOR TAX EVASION

WASHINGTON, D.C. - A Tulsa, Oklahoma, man was sentenced today to 12 months in prison and fined $10,000 for evading taxes on taxable income he received during 1992, the Department of Justice announced.

David P. Luse was sentenced by Judge Terry C. Kern in U.S. District Court in Tulsa for failing to pay $23,376 in taxes on income totaling $89,416 that he received while living in Washington state and working as an aircraft tool designer. The income also included a $1,000 cash prize that he won from the Washington State Lottery.

In August, Luse pled guilty to one count of a four-count indictment alleging that he attempted to evade $68,994 of taxes on taxable income totaling $282,358 for 1991, 1992, 1993 and 1995, and supplied false Forms W-4 to his employers claiming to be exempt from income taxes for those years.

Judge Kern also sentenced Luse to three years of supervised release.
