JUSTICE, HHS TO FOCUS ON NURSING HOME FRAUD AND ABUSE
NATIONAL CONFERENCE SCHEDULED FOR OCT. 21-22
WASHINGTON, D.C. - Deputy Attorney General Eric Holder, HHS Inspector General June Gibbs Brown, and Health Care Financing Administration Administrator Nancy-Ann DeParle will address a national enforcement conference on nursing home fraud and abuse on Wednesday. The conference will focus on developing a coordinated plan to bolster federal, state and local enforcement efforts against fraud and abuse in nursing homes and long-term care facilities--particularly when the abuse results in patient harm and neglect.
The conference is co-sponsored by the Departments of Justice and Health and Human Services and will be attended by experts from the Justice Department, HHS, Veterans Administration and state and local agencies including the National Association of Attorneys General, the National District Attorneys Association, and the Association of State Agencies on Aging.
Opening remarks of the conference will be open to the media. The remainder of the conference, scheduled for October 21-22, will be closed to the press.
