ATTORNEY GENERAL JANET RENO TO PARTICIPATE IN Y2K DEMONSTRATION
Washington, D.C. - Attorney General Janet Reno, John Koskinen, Chair, President's Council on Year 2000 Conversion and Stephen R. Colgate, Assistant Attorney General for Administration and Chief Information Officer for the Justice Department, will participate in a Y2K demonstration of the FBI's National Crime Information Center (NCIC) system.
Attorney General Reno will also report on the overall readiness of the Department's 217 mission critical systems to meet law enforcement challenges of the impending Year 2000.

NOTE: The demonstration is open to federally-credentialed reporters only and is open to cameras. Because the demonstration will be held in the FBI's HITEC Center, all news media will be required to get badges before being escorted to the center. Names of any news media, camera or other personnel attending the demonstration must be forwarded to Paul Bresson or Dave Miller of the FBI Press Office at 324-3691 by 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 3, 1999, so badges will be ready for all attendees.
