U.S. AND JAPAN TO SIGN ANTITRUST COOPERATION AGREEMENT
WASHINGTON, D.C. - Attorney General Janet Reno, Federal Trade Commission Chairman Robert Pitofsky and Hideaki Kobayashi, the Charge d' Affaires ad interim of Japan, will sign an antitrust cooperation agreement on Thursday, October 7, 1:00 p.m., at Main Justice.
Joel I. Klein, Assistant Attorney General in charge of the Justice Department's Antitrust Division and Yasuchika Negoro, Chairman of the Japan Fair Trade Commission will also participate in the event.
The agreement will provide procedures for cooperation and coordination between the two governments on enforcement against anticompetitive activities.
