ATTORNEY GENERAL RENO TO DISCUSS STRATEGIC APPROACHES
TO COMMUNITY SAFETY AT D.C. EVENT


WASHINGTON, D.C. - Attorney General Janet Reno will address the participants in the Department Of Justice's Strategic Approaches to Community Safety Initiative (SACSI) on Wednesday, October 3, 2000 at 8:30 a.m. at the Omni Shoreham Hotel in Washington, D.C. The Attorney General will meet with United States Attorneys and other state and local partners involved in this effort.

The Strategic Approaches to Community Safety Initiative is a problem-solving initiative intended to reduce crime. The goal is to increase the capacity of U.S. Attorneys, working in partnership with federal, state and local criminal justice agencies and a research partner, to collaborate on data collection and analysis, and design targeted strategies and interventions to prevent and reduce crime. There are currently 10 sites: New Haven, Connecticut; Winston-Salem, North Carolina; Portland, Oregon; Memphis, Tennessee and Indianapolis, Indiana; St. Louis Missouri; Detroit Michigan; Atlanta, Georgia; Rochester, New York; and Albuquerque, New Mexico.
