ATTORNEY GENERAL JANET RENO TO PARTICIPATE IN

2000 INDUCTION CEREMONY AT NATIONAL WOMEN'S HALL OF FAME


WASHINGTON, D.C. - The Attorney General will travel to Seneca Falls, NY on Saturday, October 7, 2000 to be formally inducted into the National Women's Hall of Fame. The Attorney General will participate in a press conference with other inductees beginning at 9:30 a.m., and will attend and speak at the induction ceremony at 1:30 p.m.

The National Women's Hall of Fame is a not-for-profit organization located in Seneca Falls, New York, which honors women whose contributions in all fields have been of great value to the development of the country. A total of 157 women have been inducted into the Hall of Fame since its founding in 1969, including Secretary of State Madeleine Albright, Eunice Kennedy Shriver, Barbara Jordan, and Rosa Parks. This year, there are 19 inductees, eight of whom are still living.

A National Honors Committee selects women for induction into the National Women's Hall of Fame. The Committee is composed of representatives of major national organizations, prominent Americans, women who have been inducted into the Hall of Fame, and Hall of Fame members.
