JANIS SPOSATO NAMED NEW ACTING ASSISTANT ATTORNEY
GENERAL FOR ADMINISTRATION WASHINGTON, D.C. Attorney General John Ashcroft today congratulated Janis A. Sposato on her new post as Acting Assistant Attorney General for Administration. Sposato replaces former Assistant Attorney General for Administration Steve Colgate, who left the Department to pursue outside opportunities.
"Janis has served the Department well for the last 25 years," Ashcroft said. "I trust she will continue her admirable work ethic and dedication. I am eager to work with her in her new capacity, and I know we will all benefit from her immense experience."
Previously, Sposato served as Deputy Assistant Attorney General for Law and Policy in the Justice Management Division. Prior to that, she acted as General Counsel for the Justice Management Division, as Attorney Advisor for the Office of Legal Counsel, as Special Assistant to the Assistant Attorney General for the Civil Division and as Trial Attorney for the Criminal Division. She has worked at the Department of Justice since 1975.
Sposato received her BA in psychology from Mount Holyoke College and her law degree from Columbia Law School.
