STATEMENT OF ATTORNEY GENERAL JOHN ASHCROFT

WASHINGTON, D.C.- A jury found Ahmed Ressam guilty on all counts of his indictment relating to the transport of an explosive device from Canada to the United States on December 14, 1999.

Attorney General John Ashcroft said, "This is the first conviction of its kind under the Terrorism Transcending National Boundaries statute, and I am proud of the hard work of the prosecutors and law enforcement officers who have pursued this case."
