RALPH BOYD STATEMENT REGARDING THE CONVICTION OF
PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY OFFICER STEPHANIE C. MOHR

WASHINGTON, D.C. Civil Rights Assistant Attorney General Ralph Boyd issued the following statement regarding the guilty verdict returned today in the U.S. District Court for Greenbelt, Maryland regarding the Department of Justice's criminal civil rights prosecution of Prince George's County Police Office Stephanie C. Mohr:

  • "The Department of Justice understands that police officers have a difficult job to do and supports their effort to protect our communities. However, when police officers cross the line and abuse their authority, as this verdict shows, we will vigorously prosecute them to protect the fundamental rights of all persons in the United States."
