DETROIT, MICHIGAN AND OTTAWA, CANADA


WASHINGTON, D.C.-- Attorney General John Ashcroft will visit Detroit, Michigan and Ottawa, Canada to meet with Canadian officials and participate in several public events on Monday, December 3, 2001.

DETROIT, MICHIGAN

8:30am Attorney General John Ashcroft and INS Commissioner James Ziglar to meet with Deputy Prime Minister Herbert Gray, Canadian Solicitor General Lawrence MacAulay, Canadian Minister of Immigration and Citizenship Elinor Caplan CLOSED PRESS

10:00am News Conference with Attorney General John Ashcroft, Deputy Prime Minister Herbert Gray, Solicitor General Lawrence MacAulay, Immigration Minister Eleanor Caplan and INS Commissioner James Ziglar

WHERE: The Atheneum Hotel,Hermes Room, 1000 Brush Avenue,Greektown, Detriot, MI 48226

OTTAWA, CANADA

While in Canada the Attorney General will meet with Deputy Prime Minister Herbert Gray, Solicitor General Lawrence MacAulay, Canadian Attorney General Anne McLellan, Immigration Minister Eleanor Caplan and United States Ambassador Paul Celluci.

2:40pm Attorney General Ashcroft to attend Canadian Parliament House of Commons Question Period

WHERE: Centre Block, House of Commons, Parliament Hill

3:00pm Attorney General Ashcroft to be recognized by the House of Commons

4:00pm Attorney General John Ashcroft, Solicitor General Lawrence MacAulay, Immigration Minister Eleanor Caplan and INS Commissioner James Ziglar to participate in a signing ceremony and media availability regarding an agreement between the FBI and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) to allow fingerprint data exchange. The ceremony will also include the signing of an immigration agreement between the United States and Canada.
