WASHINGTON, DC Attorney General John Ashcroft today issued the following statement regarding the confirmation of Jim Ziglar as the Commissioner of INS:

• "Jim Ziglar will serve with honor and dignity," Ashcroft said. "Under his leadership, the INS will guard our nation's borders with vigilance, yet it will always remember that the greatness of our nation comes from generations of immigrants. Legal immigrants should be greeted with open arms, not endless lines, and I look forward to working with him to aim for such an ideal. I congratulate him on his Senate confirmation today. We are privileged to have him join us."
