WOMEN OFFICE TO TOUR PROVIDENCE WOMEN'S SHELTER ON TUESDAY
Media Availability At The Statehouse To Follow Tour
Washington, DC -- Bonnie Campbell, in her first trip as
director of the Department of Justice's Violence Against Women
Office will tour the Women's Center of Rhode Island on Tuesday,
April 18, at 1:00 pm, as Congress ponders cutting funds for the
Crime Bill and its Violence Against Women Act.
She will be joined on the tour by Congressman Jack Reed
and Mary Trinity, the Executive Director of the Rhode Island
Coalition Against Domestic Violence. There will be a limited
opportunity for media inquiries at the shelter immediately
following the tour.
After touring the women's shelter, Ms. Campbell will then
proceed to the Statehouse where she will hold a media
availability from 3:15-3:30 pm, with Congressman Reed and R.I.
Attorney General Jeff Pine. Ms. Campbell's schedule is as follows:

The Violence Against Women Office was created to lead the
Administration's effort to implement the Violence Against Women
Act, along with the Department of Health and Human Services.
Ms.Campbell oversees the Justice Department's efforts to
combine new federal criminal laws with assistance to states and
localities to fight violence against women.
