                   ATTORNEY GENERAL'S STATEMENT

The Justice Department is reviewing statements and writings which
seem to condone or encourage violence against clinics and
providers of reproductive health services.

We intend to vigorously and thoroughly investigate all such
cases.  An intensely active investigation is underway.  Justice 
Department actions this month against individuals in Kansas City,
Mo., and Cleveland, Ohio, are an illustration of that.

We call upon church groups, religious figures, and leaders of the
anti-abortion movement to seek an end to threatening language
that promotes the taking of life.  

Those who directly preach murder and violence can expect to be
the subject of law enforcement activity.
