          AG RENO, COPS DIRECTOR BRANN TO TAKE PART IN 
            SWEARING-IN OF COMMUNITY POLICE OFFICERS 


     WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Attorney General Janet Reno and newly
named Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS) Director Joe
Brann will speak at the graduation ceremony of 42 new Prince
George's County police officers on:

                     Friday, January 20, 1995
                             10 a.m.
                     Police Services Complex
                        7600 Barlowe Road
                     Palmer Park, Maryland  

     Ten of the new officers are being funded through last year's
Department of Justice police hiring grant, making them part of
the nearly 10,000 new community police officers funded under the
Clinton Administration.  President Clinton has pledged to put
100,000 cops on the street.
