WASHINGTON, D.C. -- The Civil Rights Division held a ceremony
today at the Justice Department to celebrate the accomplishments
it has achieved and the records it has set during the Clinton
Administration.
Attached are highlights of the Division's accomplishments,
including its efforts to eliminate lending discrimination, enforce
the National Voter Registration Act, ensure access to clinics, and
educate the public about the Americans with Disabilities Act.
"The outstanding work of the Civil Rights Division has helped
ensure that all Americans have an equal opportunity to fulfill
their dreams," said Attorney General Reno at the event.
Assistant Attorney General for Civil Rights Deval L. Patrick
added, "Every time you show up on behalf of the United States and
insist on just and fair terms, you give some powerless person a
reason to hope."
