                DIVISION'S JOHN SHERMAN ACT AWARD


     WASHINGTON, D.C. --  Harvard law professor Phillip E. Areeda
will receive the Antitrust Division's John Sherman Award for his
outstanding contributions to the antitrust laws at a ceremony
today where he will be honored by Attorney General Janet Reno,
Assistant Attorney General Anne K. Bingaman in charge of the
Antitrust Division, U.S. Supreme Court Justice Stephen Breyer and
Deputy Assistant Attorney General Joel Klein of the Antitrust
Division.
