         CONGRESSIONAL PLANS TO GUT CRIME BILL FUNDING

     Attorney General Janet Reno and representatives of America's
major police organizations will hold a press availability at noon
today to protest budget cuts proposed by House Budget Committee
Chairman John Kasich that would strip $5 billion from the Crime
Control Trust Fund established last year.
