AND $15 MILLION IN ANTI-VIOLENCE GRANTS TO LOCALITIES

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Attorney General Janet Reno will release
the first-year results of the Administration's anti-violent crime
initiative today which, through the cooperative efforts of federal
and local law enforcement around the country, has led to the arrest
and conviction of gang leaders, kidnappers, carjackers, and
murderers. She will also release information on $15 million in new
grants to help U.S. Attorneys work with communities to fight
violent crime.

Reno will be joined by area U.S. Attorneys Eric Holder of
Washington, D.C. and Lynn Battaglia of Maryland, as well as local
