                       ATTORNEY GENERAL'S STATEMENT


    On behalf of the law enforcement community and a grieving
nation and city they served so well, I want to express my sorrow
at the incident which took the lives of Metropolitan Police
Sergeant Henry "Hank" Daly, and FBI Special Agents Martha
Martinez and Michael Miller.

    Their commitment, working side-by-side in a joint local and
federal task force to apprehend criminals in the Washington, D.C.
area, reflected the dedication and creativity of today's police
professionals.

    Our hearts go out to the families.  We are everlastingly
grateful for the effort your loved ones made to make America a
safer place.
