                         MEDIA ADVISORY 

     PRESS CONTINGENCIES FOR JUSTICE DEPARTMENT "SHUT-DOWN" 


     If a continuing resolution is not signed by midnight tonight
and a "shutdown" occurs:

1.   Attorney General Reno will cancel her Tuesday, November 14
     keynote address and trip to Marco Island, Florida for the
     Annual Training Conference of the National Health Care 
     Anti-Fraud Association;

2.   The Justice Department's Office of Public Affairs will close
     at noon, Tuesday, November 14 and remain closed until further
     notice.  No night duty officer will be available; and

3.   Attorney General Reno will cancel her weekly press
     availability on Thursday, November 16, unless the "shutdown"
     ends in time for all activities to resume on Wednesday,
     November 15.  (Translation: We will hold the Thursday
     availability only if we are open on Wednesday as well.)
