               NOTICE TO EDITORS AND CORRESPONDENTS


     In a press release issued by the U.S. Attorney's office in
Savannah on October 5, 1995, announcing indictments in the cases
of U.S. v. Vaughn and U.S. v. Evans in the Southern District of
Georgia, dated October 5, 1995, it was noted that the U.S.
Attorney for the Middle District of Georgia had recused himself
and his office from this investigation.

     This recusal was to avoid appearances of improprieties only. 
The Office of Professional Responsibility has completed its
review of published allegations that U.S. Attorney James Wiggins
took actions to obstruct or delay a full and fair investigation
in this case and concluded that these allegations were unfounded.
