1 Office of Justice Programs (OJP) 15_0402: 1) 40 % of OJP’s total ARRA funding has been awarded. 2) OJP awarded 18 Local JAG/Byrne grants on 5/27/09. 3) On 5/27/09, OJP hosted a demonstration of the USDA geospatial Recovery Act website. The USDA team walked through the features of the site and discussed the authoritative sources of data. OJP will convene a DOJ working group to explore using the USDA technology to display DOJ Recovery Act awards. OJP 15_0402: 1) Peer review continues on all discretionary solicitations.
2 Office of Violence Against Women (OVW) 15_0411: 1) OVW continues to process awards for the State Coalitions, Tribal Coalitions and Tribal Governments grant programs. 2) The RA Technical Assistance solicitation closed May 29th. OVW 15_0411: 1) OVW is planning a Summit for State Administrators and Coalition Directors to be held June 23 - 25, 2009 in Chicago, IL. 2) OVW will begin the review process for RA Technical Assistance applications.
3 Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS) 15_0412: 1) COPS staff met with the Associate Attorney General on May 27th to discuss the status of awarding CHRP funding and the funding methodology. 2) COPS staff worked with the Associate’s office to provide additional information for the QFRs from the May 12 Senate hearing on assistance to state and local government. 3) COPS staff met with Assistant Attorney General Lee Loftus for the mid-year budget and performance review and provided an update on the status of CHRP. 4) COPS worked with JMD to answer questions from the AG’s Senate Appropriations Hearing. 5) COPS staff continued to respond to Congressional inquiries regarding CHRP including where to direct support letters and the general timeline for making CHRP awards. 6) COPS staff spoke to the mayor East Liverpool, OH regarding the status of their CHRP application and met with Mayor Masters from Riviera Beach, Florida. COPS 15_0412: 1) In-depth application and budget review will begin for those agencies that are likely to be funded. 2) The COPS Office will meet with the Associate Attorney General regarding the CHRP funding methodology and provide a final recommendation to the Deputy Attorney General.
