MOTHER AND DAUGHTER
SENTENCED FOR TAX VIOLATIONS
United States Attorney for the Southern District
of Texas, Mervyn M. Mosbacker, announced that Guadalupe Ramirez
(63) and her daughter, Lupe Ramirez (37), were each sentenced
by the Honorable Nancy Atlas, Federal District Judge, for federal
tax violations.
Guadalupe Ramirez had pled guilty in October 2000 to one count
of making a false statement on a tax return, a violation of Title
26, United States Code, Section 7206(1) for tax year 1994. She
was sentenced to two years of probation, with six months of home
detention. Judge Atlas imposed a fine on her of $2,000.00.
Lupe Ramirez had pled guilty to one count of aiding and assisting
her mother, Guadalupe Ramirez, in the making of a false statement
on a tax return, a violation of Title 26, United States Code,
Section 7206(2) for tax year 1994. She was also sentenced to
two years of probation, with six months of home detention. Judge
Atlas imposed a fine on her of $2,000.00 as well.
The case was prepared by the Houston Office of the Internal Revenue
Service The case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States
Attorney Andrew Bobb.
