(HOUSTON) U. S. Attorney Michael T. Shelby announced today announced today that Johnny Ray Farris, Sr., of Houston, Texas, was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Kenneth M. Hoyt to five years probation, six months home confinement and ordered to pay $1,381.50 as restitution for the costs of prosecution. Mr. Farris, Sr. had previously pled guilty to making false statements on his 1994 income tax return in violation of Title 26, United States Code, Section 7206(1); and failing to file an individual tax return for income earned in 1995.

This matter was investigated by the Internal Revenue Service and is being prosecuted by Assistant U. S. Attorney Daniel C. Rodriguez of the Houston Division.
