MANSFIELD TAX PREPARER PLEADS GUILTY TO FEDERAL CHARGE
According to papers filed in court, Billy W. Deen prepared false U.S. Individual Income Tax Returns (Form 1040) for clients by including false items totaling approximately $495,868. Deen admitted that he added false business rental expenses and false income to lower the amount of self-employment taxes owed to the IRS by his clients. As a result of the false tax returns prepared by Deen, for the years 1997 through 1999, the government suffered a total tax loss of approximately $51,739. United States Attorney Boyle commended the investigative work of the Internal Revenue Service - Criminal Investigation (IRS-CI), Dallas Field Office. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Richard Roper. # # # |
