Local Engineer Sentenced for Tax Evasion
On September 11, 2001, Frasier was found guilty by a jury in Dallas of four counts of Tax Evasion. Part of Frasier's tax evasion scheme involved him filing false IRS Form W-4s with his employers claiming he was exempt from paying taxes. He also hid assets from the IRS, after they filed a levy against him. Frasier had not filed a tax return since1981. During that time, Frasier worked for several aerospace companies around the country, always claiming he was not required to pay income tax. From 1994 through 1997, Frasier earned $472,156.20, yet claimed he didn't owe any income tax. "As we approach April
15th, I remind everyone that tax evasion is a serious crime," said
U.S. Attorney Richard H. Stephens. "Cases where individuals failed
to file tax returns, or filed false tax returns, will be vigorously investigated
and prosecuted by this office," Stephens said.
