- The
United States Attorney Patrick L. Meehan announced today the filing
of a
two-count Information charging Robert
Wallen, 48, of 18 Spruce Way, R.D. #7, Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania
18360, with failing to file federal income tax returns in 1996
and 1998. The Information charges that Wallen failed to file
returns reporting approximately $500,000 in taxable income from
his employment as a cardiologist between 1995 and 1998, resulting
in a tax loss of $171,511.00.
If convicted, defendant could be sentenced to two years in prison,
placed on one year of supervised release, fined $200,000, and
ordered to pay a $50 special assessment, along with the costs
of prosecution and all tax, interest and penalties.

The case was investigated by the Internal Revenue Service, Criminal Investigation Division, and prosecution has been assigned to Assistant United States Attorney Timothy R. Rice.
