A member of the Warren City Council was indicted by a federal grand jury in Detroit today on criminal violations of the Internal Revenue Code, United States Attorney Jeffrey Collins along with Special Agent in Charge Mark Kroczynski, Criminal Investigation, Internal Revenue Service announced today. The indictment alleges that Daniel Woodhouse, 50, submitted false income tax returns for 1997 and 1998. The indictment also alleges that as owner of Woodhouse Landscaping, Woodhouse willfully failed to file quarterly F.I.C.A. returns in 1996 and 1997 and that he willfully failed to file employer's federal unemployment tax returns for 1996 and 1997. The case was investigated
by the Criminal Investigation Division of the Internal Revenue Service. An indictment is only a charge and is not evidence of guilt. A defendant is entitled to a fair trial in which it will be the government's burden to prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt. If convicted, the defendant faces a maximum penalty of three years in prison and a $100,000
fine. Any sentence will be imposed under the United States Sentence Guidelines according to the nature of the offense and the criminal background, if any, of the defendant.
