CHESTERFIELD MAN IS SENTENCED FOR INCOME TAX EVASION

St. Louis, Missouri: A Chesterfield man has been sentenced for income tax evasion, United States Attorney Ray Gruender announced today.

VICTOR HSEU, 56, of Chesterfield, Missouri, was sentenced to three years probation, ordered to pay $50,000 of partial restitution and fined $30,000. In October 2002, Hseu pled guilty to one felony count of income tax evasion. He appeared this morning for sentencing before United States District Judge Jean C. Hamilton.

Evidence presented in connection with his guilty plea in October established that Hseu filed U.S. Individual Income Tax Returns, Form 1040, for each of the calendar years 1995, 1996 and 1997, which reported a total taxable income of $37,193, with the amount of tax due to the IRS of $5576. The actual total amount of income for those three years was $433,179, with the amount of tax due of $118,103.

Gruender praised the work on the case by the Internal Revenue Service-Criminal Investigation Division and Assistant United States Attorney Steve Muchnick, who handled the case.
