LYME MAN PLEADS GUILTY TO FEDERAL TAX CHARGE Kevin J. OConnor, United States Attorney for the District of Connecticut, announced that CHRISTOPHER PLUMMER, age 43, of Lyme, Connecticut, pleaded guilty today to wilfully failing to file his federal income return for the 1999 calendar year. In a hearing this morning before United States Magistrate Judge Donna F. Martinez in Hartford, PLUMMER admitted that in 1999 he received income in excess of $7,050 and that, based on this gross income, he was required by law to file a tax return with the Internal Revenue Service. He further acknowledged that knowing this, he wilfully failed to do so. He further acknowledged that between 1996 and 1999, he owed approximately $28,000 in federal income taxes that were not paid when due. As a result of his guilty plea, PLUMMER faces up to one year of imprisonment and a fine of up to $25,000. He is scheduled to be sentenced by United States District Judge Robert N. Chatigny on December 16, 2004. This case was investigated by Special Agents of the Internal Revenue Service Criminal Investigation. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney James G. Genco. | |
