Mobile Man Sentenced on Income Tax Charges
David P. York, United States Attorney for the Southern District of Alabama,
and James D. Vickery, Special Agent in Charge, Internal Revenue Service, Criminal
Investigation announce that William Curtis Havens, 50, of Mobile, Alabama was
sentenced today by United States District Judge William H. Steele, on charges
of subscribing to a false federal income tax return. According to York:
Havens was sentenced to 18 months in federal prison, a one year term of supervised
release after he serves his prison sentence, and a $100.00 special assessment.
Havens pled guilty to this charge on February 11, 2005.
Havens failed to report approximately $213,000 in income on his 1998 through 2002 income tax returns that he took from the Mobile Scottish Rite Temple while he served as its personal representative.
This case was investigated by Special Agents of the Internal Revenue Service, Criminal Investigation and prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Michel Nicrosi.
