SALINA ATTORNEY PLEADS GUILTY TO FAILING TO FILE INCOME TAX RETURNS
TOPEKA, Kan. United States Attorney Eric Melgren announced that MICHAEL KEVIN SHEAHON, 47, Salina, Kan., has pleaded guilty to one count of failing to file income tax returns.
Sheahon entered the plea during a hearing today before U.S. District Judge Richard D. Rogers in Topeka, Kan. In his plea, Sheahon admitted that he failed to file income tax returns for calendar years 1998, 1999, 2000 and 2001. He entered a plea agreement that requires him to pay all taxes due as well as fines.
Sheahon faces a maximum penalty of one year in prison and a fine up to $25,000. Sentencing is set for 10 a.m. Nov. 17, 2005. Melgren commended the work of the Internal Revenue Service, which investigated the case, and Assistant U.S. Attorney Greg Hough, who is prosecuting.
