PRESS RELEASE

FORMER AGAWAM COUPLE INDICTED ON TAX CHARGES

Boston, MA... A couple formerly from Agawam was charged Thursday, October 20, 2005, in federal court with filing false income tax returns for the years 1998 through 2001.

United States Attorney Michael J. Sullivan and Rebecca Sparkman, Special Agent in Charge of the U.S. Internal Revenue Service in New England, announced that WILLIAM C. DAUBMANN, age 50, and DONNA A. DAUBMANN, age 50, both of 10331 Foxtail Creek Court, Bonita Springs, Florida, formerly of 135 Silver Lake Drive, Agawam, were charged in an Indictment with filing false corporate and individual income tax returns

The Indictment alleges that from 1998 through 2001, the DAUBMANNS filed false corporate and individual tax returns that failed to report cash income that they derived from their shower door and closet organizer businesses and improperly deducted from their corporate returns payments that they made for work done at their personal residence in Agawam, which they built in 1998.

If convicted on these charges, the DAUBMANNS each face up to 3 years' imprisonment, to be followed by 1 year of supervised release, and a $100,000 fine.

The case was investigated by the U.S. Internal Revenue Service's Criminal Investigation. It is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Thomas J. O'Connor, Jr., of Sullivan's Springfield Unit.

The details contained in the complaint are allegations. The defendant is presumed to be innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
