PALM BEACH COUNTY BUSINESSMAN PLEADS GUILTY TO TAX FRAUD

January 9, 2007

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

R. Alexander Acosta, United States Attorney for the Southern District of Florida, and Luis O. Rivera, Acting Special Agent in Charge, Internal Revenue Service, Criminal Investigation, Miami Field Office, announced that defendant Perry Silver, of Delray Beach, Florida, pled guilty today in West Palm Beach, Florida, before the Honorable Daniel T.K. Hurley to three counts of failure to file federal income tax returns, in violation of 26 U.S.C. Section 7203.

As charged in the Indictment, and as he admitted during his plea, defendant Silver failed to file federal income tax returns for tax years 2000 - 2002, despite being required by law to do so. In 2000, he received gross income of approximately $1,110,819.20; in 2001, he received gross income of approximately $2,144,544.51; and in 2002, he received gross income of approximately $1,102,215.45.

Sentencing was scheduled for March 16, 2007 at 9:30 a.m. Silver faces a statutory maximum term of imprisonment of one year and a fine of $250,000 per count. As part of his plea, Silver also agreed to pay restitution to the Internal Revenue Service.

Mr. Acosta commended the investigative efforts of the Internal Revenue Service. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Carolyn Bell.
