FEDERAL GRAND JURY INDICTS TWO MEN FOR RASH OF BREAK-INS AT TVA SUBSTATIONS
BIRMINGHAM – A federal grand jury today indicted two men in connection to break-ins and thefts of large amounts of copper wire from TVA substations in Huntsville, Madison and Trinity, announced U.S. Attorney Joyce White Vance and Tennessee Valley Authority Police Lt. Mike Walker.
The one-count indictment filed in U.S. District Court charges TERRY DEAN COLEMAN, JR., 27, of Lacey’s Springs, and GLENN EUBANKS, JR., 30, of Decatur, with conspiracy to damage an energy facility.
The indictment charges that the conspiracy lasted from about June through December 2009, and that the break-ins and thefts carried out through the conspiracy caused more than $100,000 in damages to TVA facilities. If convicted, the defendants face a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison and $250,000 fine.
This case was investigated by the Tennessee Valley Authority Police Department and the Huntsville Police Department. Assistant U.S. Attorney Russell Penfield is prosecuting the case.
Members of the public are reminded that the indictment contains only charges. A defendant is presumed innocent of the charges and it will be the government’s burden to prove a defendant’s guilt beyond a reasonable doubt at trial.
