Iowa Man Sentenced for Conspiracy to Distribute Cocaine

DAVENPORT, IA – On August 24, 2012, Jose Monserrato Martinez, Jr., age 54, of Lone Tree, Iowa, was sentenced to 120 months’ imprisonment for conspiring to distribute at least five kilograms of cocaine, announced United States Attorney Nicholas A. Klinefeldt. Chief United States District Judge James E. Gritzner also sentenced Martinez to five years’ supervised release and pay $100 towards the Crime Victims Fund.

From August 2008 to August 2011 Martinez obtained and distributed, and agreed with others to obtain and distribute, cocaine. During a search of Martinez’s residence on August 25, 2011, law enforcement officials recovered 6.5 ounces of cocaine and $28,770.00 in cash.

The case was investigated by the Iowa Department of Public Safety, Division of Narcotics Enforcement, and was prosecuted by the United States Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Iowa.
