WEEK IN REVIEW - FORT WAYNE

            Fort Wayne, IN—The United States Attorney's Office announced the following activity in federal court:

            Anne VanWagner, 27, of Garrett, Indiana, was sentenced by Judge Theresa Springmann to 6 months imprisonment and 2 years of supervised release after pleading guilty to count one of an Information charging her with false statements in the application for social security benefits on behalf of her minor child, who had been removed from her custody. VanWagner was ordered to pay $10,417.50 in restitution. This case was the result of an investigation by the Social Security Administration. This case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Tina Nommay.

            Greg Johnson, 40, of Fort Wayne, Indiana, was sentenced by Judge Theresa Springmann to 18 months imprisonment and 3 years of supervised release after pleading guilty to count one of an indictment charging him with conspiracy to distribute cocaine. This case was the result of an investigation by the Federal Bureau of Investigation Safe Streets Task Force. This case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Anthony Geller.

            Charles Dies, 54, of Fort Wayne, Indiana, was sentenced by Judge Theresa Springmann to 156 months imprisonment and 5 years of supervised release after pleading guilty to counts 1 and 3 of a superseding indictment charging him with conspiracy to distribute cocaine and possession with the intent to distribute cocaine in the case US v Hutchins et al. This case was the result of an investigation by the Federal Bureau of Investigation Safe Streets Task Force. This case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorneys Anthony Geller and Tina Nommay.

            The specific sentence in each case to be imposed upon conviction will be determined by the judge after a consideration of federal sentencing statutes and the Federal Sentencing Guidelines.
