South Bend, IN—The United States Attorney's Office announced that a Grand Jury sitting in South Bend, Indiana, returned the following Indictments on July 14, 2011:
Anthony Beard, 34, Elkhart, Indiana, Jason Buzzard, 32, Plymouth, Indiana, Alicia Hite, 27, Plymouth, Indiana, Andrew Mitchell, 31, Plymouth, Indiana, Nicole Garcia, 28, Argos, Indiana, and Shayla Montague, 19, Plymouth, Indiana, were charged in a one-count Indictment with conspiracy to manufacture a controlled substance and aiding and abetting. These charges were filed as the result of an investigation by the Drug Enforcement Administration. This case has been assigned to and will be prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Frank E. Schaffer.
Linda Figueroa, 35, South Bend, Indiana was charged in a two-count Indictment with one count of theft of funds from the Social Security Administration and one count of concealing information from the Social Security Administration in order to continue to receive benefits. These charges were filed as a result of an investigation by the Social Security Administration. This case has been assigned to and will be prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney John M. Maciejczyk.
The specific sentence in each case to be imposed upon conviction will be determined by the judge after a consideration of federal sentencing statutes and the Federal Sentencing Guidelines.
The United States Attorney's Office emphasized that an Indictment is merely an allegation and that all persons charged are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty in court.
