SIX ARRESTED FOR CONSPIRACY TO HARBOR ILLEGAL ALIENS
South
Bend, Indiana - United States Attorney David Capp announced today that federal agents have arrested six
individuals in conjunction with an investigation of harboring illegal
aliens. The six arrested are:

Omar Lagunes Duran, 34, of Indianapolis, Indiana
·
Margarito
Fuentes-Reyes, 50, of Goshen, Indiana
·
Yalitza Exclusa Borrero, 31, of
Indianapolis, Indiana
·
Evelyn
Rivera Borrero, 43, of Indianapolis, Indiana
·
Raul
Rafael Roman Camacho, 47, of Indianapolis, Indiana
·
Luis
Omar Montes-Merino, 33, of Indianapolis, Indiana
All defendants have been charged in an Indictment returned on June
14, 2012 with one count of conspiracy to harbor illegal aliens who are in the
United States in violation of immigration laws and one count of conspiracy to
commit mail fraud.
The
indictment alleges that the defendants presented false information, forged
documents, and made false representations to the Indiana Bureau of Motor
Vehicles and the Indiana Secretary of State, including making false representations
regarding the identity of the actual owners of motor vehicles, to obtain motor
vehicle registrations, license plates, and titles. By committing these and other misdeeds, the
defendants concealed, harbored, and shielded from detection aliens who are in
the United States in violation of immigration laws and encouraged aliens to
enter and remain in the United States in violation of immigration laws. The conspirators operated at locations in
Indianapolis and Elkhart, Indiana.
Initial
hearings are set for today at 10 AM before Magistrate Judge Christopher Nuechterlein.
These
charges were filed as the result of an investigation by ICE - Homeland Security
Investigations and the United States Postal Inspection Service. Others assisting in the investigation include
the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, the Elkhart Police Department,
the Indiana State Police and investigators with the Indiana Bureau of Motor
Vehicles and the Indiana Secretary of State.
Assistant United States Attorney’s for the Southern District of Indiana
were also involved in the investigation and assisted. This case is being prosecuted by Assistant
United States Attorney Kenneth Hays.
