WEEK IN REVIEW – FORT WAYNE
Fort Wayne, Indiana- The United States Attorney’s
Office announced the following activity:
PLEA:
Ø Kenneth Schambers, 35, of Butler,
Indiana, pled guilty before Magistrate Judge Roger Cosbey
to the felony offense of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Magistrate Cosbey
is recommending that the district court accept the tendered guilty plea. Parties have 10 days in which to object to
the magistrate judge’s recommendation. These charges were filed as the result
of an investigation by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives
and the Fort Wayne Police Department.
This case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Tina
Nommay.
If convicted in court, any
specific sentence to be imposed will be determined by the judge after a
consideration of federal sentencing statutes and the Federal Sentencing
Guidelines.
DISPOSITIONS:
Ø Terry Sabo, Jr., 53, of Warsaw, Indiana, was sentenced
by Judge Theresa Springmann to 78 months imprisonment
and 4 years of supervised release after pleading guilty to the felony offenses
of conspiracy to distribute marijuana and possession of a firearm in
furtherance of a drug trafficking crime. This case was the result of an investigation
by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives and the United
States Marshal's Service. This case was
prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Lesley Miller Lowery.
Ø Matthew Rinehart, 28, of Ossian, Indiana, was
sentenced by Judge Theresa Springmann to 52 months
imprisonment and 1 years of supervised release after pleading guilty to the
felony offense of possession of a firearm as a convicted felon. According to the Indictment filed in this
case, Rinehart was convicted of operating while intoxicated in 2008 and
possession of a destructive device in 2009.
This case was the result of an investigation by the Bureau of Alcohol,
Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives and the Wells County Sheriff’s Department. This case was prosecuted by Assistant United
States Attorney Anthony Geller.
Ø Joshua Stephens, 35, of Fort Wayne, Indiana, was
sentenced by Judge Theresa Springmann to 46 months
imprisonment and 2 years of supervised release after pleading guilty to the
felony offense of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. According to the Indictment, Stephens was
sentenced to 6 years imprisonment as a result of his conviction for operating
while intoxicated. This case was the result of an investigation by the Federal Bureau
of Investigation and its Fort Wayne Safe Streets Task Force. This case was prosecuted by Assistant United
States Attorney Lesley Miller Lowery.
