WEEK IN REVIEW – HAMMOND
Hammond, Indiana - The United States Attorney’s Office
announced the following activity in Federal Court:
PLEAS:
Ø Michael King, 35, of Ford Heights, Illinois, pled
guilty before Senior District Judge Rudy Lozano to the felony offense of
conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute and distribute 1 kilogram or
more of heroin. Sentencing has been set
for 12/10/12. These charges were filed
as a result of an investigation by the Drug Enforcement Administration. This case is being prosecuted by Assistant
United States Attorney Jennifer Chang-Adiga
Ø Christine Roth, 21, of Chesterton, Indiana, a
defendant in the case US v King et al.,
pled guilty before Senior District Judge Rudy Lozano to the felony offense of
conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute and distribute 100 grams or
more of heroin. Sentencing has been set
for 12/10/12. These charges were filed
as a result of an investigation by the Drug Enforcement Administration. This case is being prosecuted by Assistant
United States Attorney Jennifer Chang-Adiga.
If convicted in court, any
specific sentence to be imposed will be determined by the judge after a consideration
of federal sentencing statutes and the Federal Sentencing Guidelines.
DISPOSITIONS:
Ø Isaac Facen, 21, of East
Chicago, Indiana, was sentenced by Chief Judge Philip Simon to 15 months
imprisonment and 2 years of supervised release after pleading guilty to the
felony offense of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Facen has a prior
felony conviction for burglary. This
case was the result of an investigation by the by the Bureau of Alcohol,
Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives HIDTA Task Force and the East Chicago Police
Department. This case was prosecuted by
Assistant United States Attorney Dean Lanter.
Ø Antoine Adams, 36, of Gary, Indiana, was sentenced by
Chief Judge Philip Simon to 70 months imprisonment and 4 years of supervised
release after pleading guilty to the felony offenses of possession with the
intent to distribute crack cocaine and distribution of crack cocaine, charges
filed in two separate Indictments. This
case was the result of an investigation by the Federal Bureau of Investigation
GRIT Task Force. This case was
prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Randall Stewart.
