ILLEGAL ALIEN SENTENCED FOR FRAUD AND MISUSE OF A PERMANENT RESIDENT CARD

SILVERIO CASTILLO-MONTOYA, age 37, a citizen of Mexico, was sentenced today by U. S. District Judge Ivan L.R. Lemelle to 4 1/2 months with credit for time served after previously pleading guilty to one count of fraud and misuse of a permanent resident card, announced U.S. Attorney Jim Letten.

According to the indictment, CASTILLO-MONTOYA, an illegal immigrant from Mexico, used a counterfeit Permanent Resident Card as proof of identification in connection with his employment as a subcontractor at the Marathon Oil Refinery in Garyville, Louisiana.

This investigation was conducted by Special Agents of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). The prosecution of this case is being handled by Assistant United States Attorney Gregory M. Kennedy.
