GENRY HOBIN ORDONEZ-PEREZ, age 22, a resident of Guatemala, was sentenced today in federal court by U. S. District Judge Martin L. C. Feldman to approximately five (5) months imprisonment, announced U. S. Attorney Jim Letten. In addition to the term of imprisonment, Judge Feldman ordered that ORDONEZ be placed on two (2) years supervised release during which time the defendant will be under federal supervision and risks an additional term of imprisonment should he violate any terms of his supervised release.

According to court documents, on March 25, 2010, ORDONEZ pled guilty to making a false writing and document containing materially false statements and entries in that he prepared a written form in August, 2008 as part of his application for Transportation Worker Identification Credentials (TWIC). The defendant, who was illegally present in the United States, then signed that form, certifying and stating that he satisfied the immigration status requirements for issuance of a TWIC card.. Additionally, ORDONEZ pled guilty to using a false attestation on an Employment Eligibility Verification form in November, 2009 by claiming that he was a lawful permanent resident of the United States.

The case was investigated by U. S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement with the assistance of the U. S. Coast Guard. The case is being prosecuted by Special Assistant U. S. Attorney Robert Weir.
