RIVER RIDGE MAN PLEADS GUILTY TO HARBORING ALIENS

IURI MARTIROSIAN, age 55, a resident of River Ridge , Louisiana pled guilty yesterday in federal court before U. S. District Judge Martin L. C. Feldman to a two-count Bill of Information for harboring two aliens on property he owned in Jefferson Parish, announced U. S. Attorney Jim Letten.

According to court documents, MARTIROSIAN admitted that between September, 2005, and July, 2009, he permitted two aliens to stay at a home he owned on Jade Avenue in Jefferson Parish and in lieu of rent payments, the aliens performed work for a business owned by MARTIROSIAN.

MARTIROSIAN faces a maximum possible sentence of five (5) years imprisonment, one (1) year of supervised release, and a $250,000.00 fine per count. Sentencing has been scheduled for January 5, 2011.

The case was investigated by the U. S. Department of Homeland Security Investigations, the U. S. Department of State, the Internal Revenue Service, Social Security Administration and the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office. The prosecution was handled by Assistant United States Attorney W. Scott Laragy.
