JUAN FACIANE, 43, of Slidell, Louisiana, was sentenced yesterday in federal court by U. S. District Judge Helen G. Berrigan to two (2) years (24 months) in prison for possessing child pornography, announced U. S. Attorney Jim Letten. In addition, the defendant was ordered to serve fifteen (15) years supervised release as well as register as a sex offender, and is prohibited from any unsupervised contact with children under 18 years old.

According to court document, FACIANE pled guilty on October 28, 2009 to one count of Possession of Child Pornography, admitting that on March 20, 2009, he was in possession of approximately 5 videos depicting the sexual victimization of children.

This case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse launched in May 2006 by the Department of Justice. Led by United States Attorneys’ Offices and the Criminal Division's Child Exploitation and Obscenity Section (CEOS), Project Safe Childhood marshals federal, state and local resources to better locate, apprehend and prosecute individuals who exploit children via the Internet, as well as to identify and rescue victims. The investigation of this case was conducted by Special Agents of the Federal Bureau of Investigation. The prosecution of this case was handled by Project Safe Childhood Coordinator, Assistant U. S. Attorney Brian M. Klebba.
