TANGIPAHOA PARISH MEN INDICTED ON DRUG AND GUN CHARGES
YKEITH ANDREWS, 24, and TYRONE SKINNER, 25 residents of Hammond, were indicted by a Federal Grand Jury on five counts involving the distribution of cocaine and possession of a firearm, announced U. S. Attorney Jim Letten.
According to the indictment, for a period of time prior to October 14, 2010, ANDREWS and SKINNER conspired to distribute and possessed with the the intent to distribute approximately 280 grams of crack cocaine. Additionally, the defendants are charged with distributing a quantity of crack cocaine on September 16, 2010, September 20, 2010 and September 21, 2010. ANDREWS was also charged with being a felon in possession of a firearm.
If convicted, the defendants face a possible maximum sentence of life imprisonment.
U. S. Attorney Letten reiterated that the indictment is merely a charge and that the guilt of the defendant must be proven beyond a reasonable doubt.
The investigation is being conducted by Special Agents of the Drug Enforcement Administration. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant U. S. Attorney Andre’ Jones.
