HARVEY MAN PLEADS GUILTY FOR TRAFFICKING IN COUNTERFEIT GOODS
IDRESS SUBHI SALEM, a/k/a Eddie Salem , age 31, a resident of Harvey, pled guilty in federal court today before U. S. District Judge Helen C. Berrigan to trafficking in counterfeit goods, announced U.S. Attorney Jim Letten.
According to the factual basis, SALEM, the owner of Oprah’s Beauty Supply and Fashion, in Kenner, Louisiana, admitted between March 24, 2006 and September 20, 2006, he sold counterfeit clothing and shoes from his store. On September 20, 2006, while executing a search warrant, agents with the Department of Homeland Security, discovered and confiscated approximately 200 counterfeit shirts and pants and approximately 27 pairs of counterfeit shoes, worth approximately $7,400.
SALEM faces a possible maximum sentence of ten (10) years imprisonment, a $2 million fine and three (3) years of supervised release. Sentencing has been scheduled for February 11, 2011.
The case was investigated by the U. S. Department of Homeland Security Investigations and prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney W. Scott Laragy.
