DOMINICAN NATIONAL PLEADS GUILTY TO VIOLATION OF THE FEDERAL CONTROLLED SUBSTANCES ACT

WILMER ANTONIO PUELLO-MORA, age 23, a citizen of the Dominican Republic, pled guilty in federal court today before U. S. District Judge Helen G. Berrigan to one count of a second superseding indictment charging him with conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute cocaine hydrochloride, announced U. S. Attorney Jim Letten.

According to court documents, beginning at a time unknown and ending on March 31, 2010, PUELLO knowingly and intentionally conspired and agreed with others, to possess with the intent to distribute one kilogram of a mixture or substance containing a detectable amount of cocaine hydrochloride.

PUELLO faces a maximum statutory penalty of forty (40) years imprisonment and a minimum of five (5) years imprisonment, a $2,000,000.00 fine, and four (4) years of supervised release following any term of imprisonment. Sentencing has been scheduled for February 16, 2011 at 9:00 A.M.

The investigation was conducted by U. S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.

The case was prosecuted by Special Assistant U. S. Attorney Robert Weir.
